With a wide range of unique features, Larkspur is an ideal location for many Marin homebuyers. It is close enough to San Francisco for a reasonable commute, but far enough North to avoid the fog that can be an issue at times in Southern Marin. It also has a high proportion of charming vintage homes, highly rated schools, from Neil Cummins Elementary through Redwood High, and a colorful and historic downtown business district that people just can’t help but fall in love with. Larkspur blends a pleasant small town feel with restaurants and cafes, cute boutiques, and classic Victorian and Craftsman architecture. Residents take a lot of pride in their town, as evidenced by The Lark Theater. A landmark of downtown Larkspur since 1936, it was in danger of being torn down in 2003 when locals came together and saved it from demolition. The Lark Theater is now restored and run by a nonprofit group. A few blocks away from the theater, you will find the entrance to Madrone Canyon, a residential neighborhood that serves as a gateway to multiple hiking trails. Larkspur Landing is home to the Golden Gate Ferry, several businesses, and apartment complexes, and newer upscale homes. Every Friday you can enjoy live music, and a farmer’s market on Saturdays. “Off The Grid” food truck market rounds out the weekend on Sundays during the summer months. A new bike tunnel from central San Rafael provides convenient access for those how enjoy biking in Marin.
